I was recently contacted by Sara Wilson of FreshAir.org I was unaware of this great program until she asked for help spreading the word about it. The Fresh Air Fund is a program that works with underprivileged children and focuses on giving them a chance to experience new things by having them stay with host families for a short time.

I just checked out their website www.Freshaire.org and they are still looking for people to host this summer. They also have had a very generous member who is willing to match any donations made to the Fresh Air Fund which helps to fund the travel for the children to their host homes. Consider becoming a volunteer host or making a donation. Even something small can make a big difference for these children.

The world seems like it spins faster every year. With all of the advances in technology we still seem to have more to do. The reality of the world today is that America is more concerned with our iPod playlists than we are with our neighbors and having real conversations. I have noticed this is the growing trend in the past few years, we are growing ever more self absorbed in our own worlds. Let’s take a moment to stop and really think about what the world needs and how we can help. Continue Reading

Read a book? Yeah right, I haven’t got the time! I know this is how a lot of people feel, myself included. We forget that reading books was one of the best forms of entertainment and learning just a few short decades ago. In the technology age we are so spoiled with thousands of pages of information being thrown in front of us at the press of a few buttons. Technology is now making it easier for us to read, without actually reading…

I was speaking with the head of a local SPCA chapter recently and she was telling me about how they are seeing many more animals come in since the economic down turn. She mentioned that statewide the SPCA is in need of food for the animals and volunteers to help with all of the animals they have now. I started thinking about it and I couldn’t imagine life without my dogs. I wanted to do something that could benefit the local SPCA so I started making dog leashes for them out of some old rope that I have. I am volunteering at a dog wash fund raiser in the coming month and I wanted to encourage everyone to try and get involved with your local SPCA because they are great organizations that save so many animals.

In my pursuit of financial knowledge I have become fascinated with how people create wealth. I thought that there must be a secret to creating wealth. I started looking at wealthy people like Donald Trump and Bill Gates to see if there was a secret to how they created masses of wealth. There is a secret but it’s not what you might think.
